Product Reviews and Questions
Fantastic Tarp
Left a review 3 months ago where I totally messed up on the ease of setup and comfort sliders so leaving another 3 month review to fix that mistake as well as give an updated review. 3 months later tarp is still going strong and is still an excellent option in my opinion. Very light and durable as well as provides a lot of flexibility for a number of setups. Took it out into some horrendous weather and it stayed strong and kept me dry when pitched low to the ground. I've also been able to connect it to my truck's bed cap to give me some shade while camping out of the bed of my truck
Awesome tarp and awesome customer service
Bought this tarp to use on a recent trip and decided to buy it way too close to the trip date and accidentally checked out with the wrong shipping. I sent an email to HMG to change the shipping and accidentally sent that to the wrong hyperlite address. Despite my mistakes, they contacted me and fixed the shipping (at what seemed like a major discount for 2 day shipping). Not only that but when I received my package I realized they actually upgraded me to overnight shipping on their own dime to make sure I get it in time. Stellar customer service!
The tarp itself is fantastic - very light and durable. Was hit with a couple of thunder and lightning storm and the tarp stayed standing and kept me completely dry. Love how easy it is to setup (even in wind and rain) as well as the versatility of the 8x10 tarp. This is my first HMG product and I will definitely be coming back for more!
outstanding
The tarp's strengths and advantages weren't apparent to me at first...and then I took it into the remote cloud forest of Central America a few weeks ago, and it rained. Not only was it easy to put up and tighten, but it is a very strong material and let through more light than I was expecting. I enjoyed seeing all the attachment points across the tarp surface for added tightening points and water runoff. It also easily folds up to about the size of a freeze dried meal for 2, and weighs about the same.
The only problems I see with it are rather small and those that I can fix on my own fairly easily. One is that all the ropes are all the same color despite being a couple of different lengths. It would make it easier to set up if they made them a slightly different color, like a different shade of blue for each length. Also these ropes were cut very quickly with a hot knife and the ends didn't seal well for every rope segment. When I was quickly setting it up and inserting the ropes through the plastic cinch fittings, the sheath exposed on a couple of them and made it difficult to feed through the cinches. On the flip-side, there are plenty of cords provided so I was able to quickly grab another one to use instead. It is on my to-do list to reheat the tips and shape them so they seal and feed better. Overall, it is a solid product with the strongest material I've ever seen, and I would trust it in any conditions.
5 Stars
Amazingly light and super durable. I dropped 4 pounds of weight upgrading to this incredible piece of gear! The reinforced guide out points are sewn well.
Review of a flat tarp.
It was flat though it came folded up. It is a trap. It is the dimensions I ordered. It fits all the specifications as provided. It is the color I ordered. It seems like it will work. Thanks.
